Dr. Rilana Riikkinen

Dr. Rilana Riikkinen is a distinguished researcher and academic with a significant focus on sustainability, corporate responsibility, and international business. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Aalto University, where she has contributed extensively to understanding the sustainability practices of multinational corporations (MNCs).

Dr. Riikkinen’s research primarily explores how institutional pressures affect the environmental and social sustainability performance of MNCs. Her doctoral dissertation, defended at Aalto University, delves into the operational level facilitators of sustainability within these organizations. Her findings indicate that while institutional pressures significantly influence environmental and social sustainability, they do not impact economic performance in the same way. Additionally, she has investigated the role of absorptive capacities in MNCs, discovering that these capacities mainly affect social sustainability practices (Aalto University) (Aalto-yliopisto) (AaltoDoc).
